Adobe Document Services provided by SAP runs as a module on J2EE Application Server to provide Adobe PDF Based Form Outputs and also Adobe Interactive Forms for Input/Output.

Unfortunately, ADS Service is not supported by all platforms supported by Netweaver.

For Netweaver 2004s SR1 Following Platforms are supported by one of the supported Databases;

  • Windows 2K3 Server on IA32
  • Windows 2K3 Server on IA64
  • Windows 2K3 Server on x64
  • AIX 5.2, 5.3 64 Bit
  • HP-UX 11.11, 11.23, 11.31, on PA-RISC and IA64
  • Solaris 9,10 on SPARC, 10 on x64
  • Linux SLES9, SLES10, RHEL4 on IA32, IA64, x86_64, Power 64
  • z/OS 1.6, 1.7 64 Bit
  • i5/OS V5R3, V5R4 64 Bit

But Adobe Document Services is only supported on the following Platforms:

  • Windows 2K3 Server on IA32
  • Linux SLES9 on x86_64
  • Linux RHEL4 on x86_64
  • AIX 5.2, 5.3 64 Bit
  • HP-UX 11.11 and 11.23 on PA-RISC 64 Bit
  • Solaris 9,10 on SPARC

Because of this situation, if you want to use ADS in your Netweaver Projects you have to consider an additional Java Application Server on a ADS supported platform.
